Enjoy sketching or photographing together, watching wildlife both wild and captive. Whenever possible, car-sharing will be suggested to share fuel costs. Meet at 11am. This year by request, some visits are mid-week.

MAGOR MARSH SSSI, near Newport, South Wales, NP26 3DD – Sunday 25th March www.gwentwildlife.org 
Join Gwent Wildlife Trust Rangers on a walk by the coast & look for fantastic wildlife of the Severn Estuary. 11am – 4pm. Starts from Car Park at Magor, to Goldcliff, 11km (about 6 miles). Unique opportunity to see wildfowl & waders on the mud flats, coastal scenery, with plenty of time to stop & look at various features and species. Transport back from Goldcliff to Magor. Spaces limited, – let Sarais know ASAP.

220 acres with large pools, reedbeds, willow carr, grass & woodland. Outstanding for birdwatching, with 8 hides and walks. Café. No Dogs. £2.50 Adults, £1.50 Concessions. Free to Warwickshire Wildlife Trust members.

In 30 acres, over 300 raptors, many endangered. Rescue & rehabilitation of birds of prey, owls hawks, eagles, falcons, buzzards, vultures, all in aviaries. Flying displays. No Dogs. Picnic areas. Adults £7.70 (Giftaid), Concessions £6.05 (Gift Aid)

SANDWELL VALLEY RSPB, West Bromwich, Birmingham. B43 5AG – Sunday 20th May. http://www.rspb.org.uk

Nature reserve is part of Sandwell Valley Country Park, large area woodland, wetlands, meadows, pools & streams, bird hide & walks. Dogs on leads. Busy Heronry, bluebells, many birds. Visitor centre, refreshments. Non-RSPB members £3 car parking fee.

STANWICK LAKES SSSI, near Wellingborough, Northants, NN9 6GY – Saturday 9th June. http://www.stanwicklakes.org.uk
Wetland of international importance, wildfowl, reedbeds, wildflower meadows, birds, kingfisher, otter, dragonflies. Visitor centre & Café. Dogs on leads. Free entry, Car Parking £5.50.

COTSWOLD WILDLIFE PARK, Burford, Oxfordshire, OX18 4JP – Wednesday 11th July. http://www.cotswoldwildlifepark.co.uk
160 acres of parkland with beautiful gardens, many endangered species. Asiatic Lion, giraffe, zebra, red panda, rhino, wolf, primates, otters, birds, reptiles, penguins. Lemur walk-through. Dogs on leads. Adults £15, Seniors £10, tickets cheaper online. Café.

BRITISH WILDLIFE CENTRE, Lingfield, Surrey. RH7 6LF (near M25 Jcn 6) – Sunday 14th October.
Unique venue for British wildlife in natural surroundings, 40 species – red squirrel, fox, wildcat, otter, deer, polecat, owls. Talks every 30 mins. Coffee shop. No Dogs. Adults £11.50, Senior £10.50

WELNEY WETLANDS CENTRE, Cambridgeshire. PE14 9TN – Saturday 10th November. www.wwt.org.uk 
Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust centre in the Fens. Walks, hares, owls, & many hides including heated main one. Autumn migrants . “Swan” feed to watch flocks of Bewick & Whooper swans, ducks & geese. Adult £8.70 (Giftaid), Seniors £7.40 (Giftaid) Café. No Dogs.

We shall probably also have a Christmas Get-Together at Slimbridge – date in December to be arranged.
